Travel Training with the CCRTA
Thursday, May 162:00—3:00 PMAuditorium Brewster Ladies' Library1822 Main Street, Brewster, MA, 02631
The Cape Cod Regional Transit Authority (CCRTA) Travel Training Program is designed to assist individuals, groups, students, the disabled community and seniors in traveling independently on Fixed Routes, DART (Dial-a-Ride Transportation) and Boston Hospital services through Cape Cod.
Why is Travel Training Important?
Teaching a person to self-travel can have several benefits. Independent travel can support the individual in broadening their involvement within the community and allow them to make use of more recreational, educational and employment opportunities. Self-travel can also aid in improving self-esteem, which can encourage an individual to learn new skills and take advantage of more opportunities to function independently and become more self-reliant.
How does a CCRTA Travel Trainer help you?
The certified Travel Trainer will assist interested parties to enhance transportation skills by teaching: bus route training, trip planning – reading and understanding route maps and schedules, Boston Hospital bus, website, proper wheelchair securement, bus fare structure, and bicycle rack positioning.
This program is co-sponsored by the Brewster Council on Aging.
