The Frances Nickerson Memorial Lecture Featuring Presidential Historian Michael Beschloss

Two 90 minute lectures to take place at the Nauset Regional Middle School, 70 MA-28, Orleans, MA 02653 at 12:30 pm and 5:00 pm. 

Michael Beschloss serves as the NBC Presidential Historian and contributes to the PBS NewsHour. Among his ten published books are titles such as Presidents of War, Presidential Courage, The Conquerors, Taking Charge, and Reaching for Glory (focused on President Lyndon Johnson’s tapes). Additionally, he authored The Crisis Years, Mayday, and Historic Conversations with Jacqueline Kennedy in collaboration with Caroline Kennedy. In 2005, he received an Emmy for his involvement in creating the Discovery Channel series Decisions that Shook the World, where he served as the host.

Beschloss is an alum of Phillips Academy (Andover), Williams College, and the Harvard Business School. His career includes positions as a historian at the Smithsonian Institution, a senior associate member at St. Antony’s College at Oxford, and a senior fellow of the Annenberg Foundation. He holds six honorary doctorates and is a board member of the White House Historical Association and the National Archives Foundation.

The annual Nickerson event is sponsored by the Brewster Ladies’ Library Association in memory and honor of Frances Mapes Nickerson, a long-time Brewster resident and library benefactor.

Members who joined the Association before August 10th for the membership period July 1, 2024, to June 30, 2025, are eligible for early member registration for two (2) tickets per household starting August 22 at 10 AM.
