How do we recognize and treat anxiety in children and adolescents? Parents and school staff have requested this program to understand and help their children and other adolescents deal with what appears to be an increase in anxiety—perhaps due to the disruption of schooling and socialization caused by the pandemic. Dr. Main’s presentation will provide participants a better understanding of the experience of anxiety as well as offer parents, grandparents, caregivers and school personnel solutions to diminish the anxious symptoms.

Dr. Main graduated from Indiana University Medical School and completed his training at the University of Minnesota Medical School in 1982. He is board certified by the American Board of  Psychiatry and Neurology.  Dr. Main has practiced in many settings across the spectrum of care intensity for the last 40 years and has been with Cape Cod Healthcare for the last 11 years. He enjoys teaching Master’s degree students in social work and Advanced Practice (nursing or physician assistants) professionals and constantly promotes the notion that medication is supposed to be temporary, a support until the person is able to manage psychiatric symptoms on his or her own.
