Have you ever thought about being an organ donor, what organs and tissues are being transplanted, and what it takes to be a donor and be on the receiving end of this life-saving gift? Dr. Francis Delmonico, internationally renowned transplant expert, will be on hand to separate fact from fiction. He’ll cover the number of transplants performed annually in the U.S. and abroad, medical criteria for getting on a waitlist, paired organ donation, the “Dead Donor Rule,” and more.

Dr. Delmonico is Professor of Surgery at Harvard Medical School and practiced as an organ transplant surgeon at the Massachusetts General Hospital for more than 40 years. In addition, he has been serving as Chief Medical Officer of New England Donor Services for more than 25 years, and as an Advisor to the World Health Organization in matters of organ donation and transplantation. He was appointed by Pope Francis to the Pontifical Academy of Sciences in 2016.
