Chasing the Light paintings by Luba Caruso

Art Exhibit

“As artists, we search to capture the light in what we see, to then transcribe with our brush, a stroke onto the canvas. An artist must abandon oneself truthfully each and everyday in his studio to be real. From Van Gogh to Picasso, every artist looks to capture the light in its beauty. For me, my brushstrokes evoke my emotions, exposing my inner self onto the canvas, telling the stories of my life in color and light. And with that said, as I interpret my stories on to the canvas, I will forever be running... chasing light, a muse of beauty and wonder.

Luba Caruso, born in Boston, Massachusetts, is a graduate of Villanova University, attended The Parsons School of Design, and studied Fine Arts in South Kensington, London.

She received a package design award from Parsons and has had many works featured in the Parsons Gallery. A successful Package and Design Artist with 20 years’ experience, Luba’s label designs are featured in famous marketplaces around the country such as Whole Foods, Trader Joes, BevMo, World Market, Boomtown Wine from Walla Walla, Washington, Sams Club, Costco, Blusushi, Iron Chef Michael Symon Restaurant “Lola”, PapaVino and Vino Volo.

Presently, Luba has been focusing on her oil paintings of seascapes and landscapes. Living on the New Jersey peninsula surrounded by the Navesink and Shrewsbury Rivers and the Atlantic Ocean, Luba is never far from the beauty of the shore: the beaches of Sea Bright and Spring Lake. The inspiration of these places are evident in her work, expressed in her compositions of daily life along the shore. Luba also draws inspiration from the beauty that is Cape Cod, where she spent summers as a young child and throughout her adult life. These influences can be seen in her compositions of seascapes and beach scenes.

Represented by Kathy Donnelly, the owner and director of Beauregard Fine Art Gallery in Rumson, New Jersey, Luba’s artwork has been purchased by art lovers and collectors throughout the United States.

Her Solo shows from 2017-2019 have expanded to Princeton, Bryn Mawr and Malvern Pa. Her 2019 Solo show “NorthEast Light” at 3 Roberts Gallery in Bryn Mawr, Pa. (April 15-May 15) focused on light and reflection along the eastern shore line from Maine, Cape Ann, Cape Cod, and Martha’s Vineyard through Cape May and the Chesapeake Bay.

ArtJam 2019 in Princeton at the famous Palmers Square, a group show drawing in artists from the metropolitan area was a successful sold out show for Luba. She looks forward to attending again in 2020 which supports the local Homefront charity in Princeton.

October 2019, Beauregard Fine Art Gallery in Rumson, NJ, presented Luba’s 3rd Solo Show at the Rumson Gallery. Luba’s show titled “Chasing Light” showcase her largest pieces to date which expanded into the Old Nelson Press featuring her 26foot oil on sail installation. Attached is her Chasing Light Story. May 2022, The Cape Cod Museum of Art has selected Luba's narrative work for their International Juror Show, "All the World's A Stage" starting May 11 through July 24th.

In August, 2022, Luba is excited to announce her first solo show in Brewster, Cape Cod. The Cape, a familiar and peaceful place where she loves to escape too, is most inspiring for her. Filled with childhood and adult memories, as new ones await, here, the light, sky and water sing, bursting with inspiration that will forever tug at her heart to one day stay forever.
