Wednesday, March 222:00—3:00 PMAuditorium Brewster Ladies' Library1822 Main Street, Brewster, MA, 02631
Local author Janis Robinson Daly will share a curated list of 31 titles of historical fiction to celebrate Women’s History Month. From the graduates of the Woman’s Medical College of Pennsylvania, the subjects of Daly’s novel, The Unlocked Path, to West Indies landowner and entrepreneur, Dorothy Kirwan Thomas in Island Queen by Vanessa Riley, to local author Sally Cabot Gunning’s historical fiction of Martha Jefferson, Monticello, each book spotlights women in history whose achievements languished in the shadows until authors discovered their stories and wrote them, imagining the women’s emotional responses as they strode forward with dreams in their minds and hopes in their hearts. Come share which novels you’ve read on the list of 31 and discover others to add to your "To Be Read" list.
Intrigued by the discovery that an ancestor was a founder of the Woman’s Medical College of Pennsylvania, Janis Robinson Daly found her next career path: unearthing the stories of women whose lives have remained in the shadows. Her debut novel, The Unlocked Path, reached Best Seller status for New Releases in U.S. Historical Fiction in August. A graduate of Wheaton College, MA, with a B.A. in Psychology, Daly explores female-centric issues and the power of supportive relationships developed among women. Daly’s followers on Facebook, Instagram, and her blog look to her for recommendations as she shares her love of women’s historical fiction with others. She’s involved with several book clubs as both a member and moderator, lending her expertise in selecting books which prompt insightful and engaging discussions. Janis is a member of the Women’s Fiction Writers Association, Historical Novel Society, and the Cape Cod Writers Center.
